As we celebrate 75 years of the Lively community its history, its growth, and its people—we acknowledge that this land has been a site of human activity, stewardship, and storytelling for thousands of years. We offer our gratitude to the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek peoples for their care of the land and water. We recognize their enduring presence and commit ourselves to moving forward in the spirit of reconciliation, respect, and partnership.

Built in 1950 by Inco Ltd. to house Creighton Mine workers, Lively was a planned community designed for modern living, with curved streets, schools, shops, and churches arranged with care. Incorporated in 1953 with nearly 1,800 residents, it grew into a thriving town known for its thoughtful layout and strong community spirit. After joining Walden in 1973 and later Greater Sudbury in 2001, Lively evolved from a company-built mining town into a vibrant, self-sustaining town.
